Donald "Don" Narragon, a resident of Pendleton, died Friday, January 29, 2010 in the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He was 79 years old. Viewing will be Wednesday, between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. in the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Memorial funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., in the Burns Mortuary Chapel, Pendleton, Oregon. Memorials in his memory may be sent to the VFW Let'er Buck Post # 922 of Pendleton or to the Eagles Lodge of Pendleton. Both may be sent care of the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. Send condolences or sign the register book at www.burnsmortuary.com. Mr. Narragon was born January 16, 1931 in Bismark, North Dakota. He was the son of Willard and Gertrude Sperling Narragon. As a boy he moved to Pendleton with his family in 1939. He attended Pendleton schools. After his schooling, he served his country as a Corporal during the Korean War from 1948 until he was honorably discharged in 1952. Following his discharge he returned to Pendleton. He then began working for Penny Oil here in Pendleton. He married Margaret "Boots" Goebel on May 12, 1968 in Virginia City, Nevada. Mr. Narragon later began working as an agent for Farmer's Insurance here in Pendleton and worked there for 18 years until his retirement in 1990. He had been Past Worthy Patron of the Pendleton Eagles and had also been a member of the Pendleton VFW Let'er Buck Post # 922. He had spent over 16 winters traveling to Yuma, Arizona with his wife, and greatly enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and golf. He is survived by his wife, "Boots" of Pendleton, a daughter and her husband, Loreen and Don Snider of Kennewick, Washington, one sister, Shirley Freund of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in his death by his parents, and nephew John. Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
