Judith O. Bowman PENDLETON - Judith Olivia Bowman – 88, of Pendleton, Oregon, died October 30, 2011, at the Hill Top Care Home. She was born on July 26, 1923 in Goldendale, Washington, and moved to Pendleton shortly thereafter, where she spent the remainder of her life. Memorial contributions in honor of Judith Bowman may be made to the Pioneer Humane Society directly, or through Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, PO Box 489, Pendleton, OR 97801. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Pendleton Animal Welfare Shelter, 517 SE 3rd Street in Pendleton. She was the daughter of Harry Brawn who was the co-owner of Hyatt & Brawn men's clothing and shoe store in Pendleton for many years. Her mother, Helen Brawn was a touring musician/singer in her youth, and later, a popular piano teacher and organist at the Presbyterian Church in Pendleton. After graduating from Pendleton High School in 1941, Judith trained as a nurse in Portland, Oregon, and later married Farley D. Bowman, also of Pendleton. They were married in 1943. Together they had one son. They were divorced in 1975. She worked for the Umatilla County Health Department, and then was receptionist/secretary for Wallace McCrae when he was Superintendant of Schools in Pendleton. Later, she moved with him, when he became the first President of Blue Mountain Community College, and was a receptionist there until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister Harriet Cronin. Judith is survived by her son, Anthony F. Bowman, and her nephew, Jerry Cronin. She is to be remembered for her skill and enjoyment in gardening, and her devotion to her pets. In addition to being very good natured, she maintained a nurturing and very positive attitude throughout her life.
