Virgil D. Bronson - a resident of Gibbon died on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. He was 56 years old. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. Virgil was born on November 17, 1953 in Pendleton, Oregon to Tillman "Ted" and Dixie Simpson Bronson. He attended Thornhollow Grade School, Athena Grade School, and McEwen High School. In 1970 he enlisted into the U.S. Navy, where he served his country during the Vietnam War as a Boiler Technician. Following his honorable discharge from the service he worked for a time in construction. He then worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a welder for 26 years, and finally he was employed by the Tribal Transfer Station until 2007, when injuries sustained in an automobile accident forced his early retirement. He married Jody Lammey, the couple had a son and that marriage later ended. He married Sue Phelps, they had a daughter, and that marriage later ended. On December 31, 2001 he married Randee Exferd in Gibbon, Oregon. Virgil loved spending time in the mountains; fishing and hunting, looking mushrooms as well as arrowheads and antiques. He loved animals and power wagons. His favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends. Virgil is survived by his wife Randee Bronson at the home in Gibbon, OR, his mother Dixie Bronson of Gibbon, OR, his children; Aaron Bronson of Pilot Rock, OR, and Justine Bronson of Pendleton, OR, his sisters; Sara Haskett of Echo, OR, Teddi Bronson of Gibbon, OR, and Patty Hall of Athena, OR, his grandchildren; Kegan, Kyler, Sean and Stephanie, and many nieces and nephews, as well as his loving companions Jake, Kittymouse and Thomasina. He was preceded in death by his father Ted Bronson.
