Michelle Carey Hoskins-Bylenga, 42, died February 20, 2010 in her home in Pendleton, OR. A memorial service will be held in honor of Michelle's life on Saturday February 27, 2010 at the 1st Presbyterian Church of Pendleton at 11am. Michelle was born August 17, 1967 to Helen and Arthur Hoskins. She met her husband Herman Bylenga in 1991 at the Anaheim Convention Center and was later married to him on March 25, 1995. Herman and Michelle moved to Lansing, MI where Michelle worked for Thomas Cooley Law School and The Mountain Bookstore. She also attended Lansing Community College and discovered her passion for theatre. Just before moving back to Southern California her first child was born. She later gave birth to twins in Anaheim, CA and within a few months she joined her husband to live in Pendleton, OR where she and her family have resided for the past four years. Throughout her life Michelle was involved with several theatres including The Rude Guerilla in Santa Ana, CA and the College Community Theatre at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, OR. In addition, Michelle worked at the Fairview Developmental Center in Costa Mesa, CA where she cared for the developmentally disabled; she was also an investigator for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In Pendleton she worked primarily as a homemaker. She also taught improv at the Pendleton Art Center and was a featured act during poker tournaments at the Wildhorse Casino where she played the character "Susie". Michelle enjoyed reading, collecting a wide variety of books and antiques, human rights activism and of course her three children. Michelle was often described as approachable, welcoming and loving. Michelle is survived by her husband Herman and their three children Nolan, Helen and Case, as well as her parents in Oceanside, CA.
