Ida "Jean" Brandl, a longtime resident of Pendleton, died Thursday, January 21, 2010 in a Pendleton Care Facility. She was 88 years old. Memorial inurnment services will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions in her memory may be directed to the OHSU Brain Institute, and may be sent care of the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton, P.O. Box 489, Pendleton, Oregon 97801. Send condolences or sign the register book at www.burnsmortuary.com Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Brandl was born February 21, 1921 in Steptoe, Washington. She was the daughter of James and Ida Roberts Hall. She was raised in Steptoe and Colfax, Washington. She attended school in Colfax. On July 22, 1939 she married George Brandl. In the early 1940s, the couple came to Pendleton. While here, she had been a homemaker and she also helped operate Brandl's Bargain Center, the family business. She greatly enjoyed bowling, golf, cooking and was a member of the First Christian Church here in Pendleton. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law Vicki and Larry McMillan of Pendleton, and son and daughter-in-law Dick and Pat Brandl of Haughton, Louisiana, son-in-law Rick Rankin and wife Kathy, one brother, Jimmie Hall of Colfax, Washington, many grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters, and a daughter, Marie Rankin.
